WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS, THE PEOPLE TURN TO POETRY
Civilisation Thinks It Can Be Saved By A Few Fine Words.
You’ve Got To Admire The Proles
They keep scratching away- in their efforts to burrow out of the prison hellscape we have constructed around them- It’s almost as commendible as it is pathetic. Here we find our old Nemesis O’Laoi giving it socks.
Not exactly Wordsworth or Shelley, but at least he’s able to string together what could be described as fully formed English sentences.
It goes something like this:
MY PROBLEMS I love my problems so very much, They are my greatest wealth So if I were to fix them I’d wreck my mental health My problems are like a blanket, That comforts me at night, I snuggle up beside them, Until the morning light I complain about my problems, I share them with my friends, We rage at cruel reality, That will never make amends Most our problems are quite similar, If not exactly the same, It’s a mysterious coincidence, Who’s cause we cannot name Because to name it might resolve them, And that would never do, We’d have to abandon our familiar world, And face our demons too So let’s not solve our problems, Let us remain right here, In our comforting reality, Whose loss we need never fear
What Is He On About?
Ó’Laoi attempts to describe the central conundrum of Modern Man: That of the “eternal fixer” who loves to prescribe solutions for ill-defined problems. Thankfully Modern Man is happy to continue doing this all the while becoming more completely enslaved.

Tales From The Lockdown...
...is a true personal account (heavily laced with satire) during a period of time where ordinary civilised people abandoned the familiar trappings of normality, logic and scientific rigour.
We begin our story in the South of Ireland in late 2019 when unusual events begin to unfold- Starting first as a trickle of activity, then a flow, and then a raging torrent. The book details the escapades of the author Séamus O’Laoi who tries to make sense of what’s happening; It details his modest but nonetheless important personal challenges to the authority of the Irish state during the interestingly exact 2 year period: March 2020 to March 2022.
This book is a record of what happened in Ireland during the period that Séamus mockingly refers to as the “The Dreadful Disease” when erstwhile invisible forces emerged and revealed themselves to the world, perhaps assuming that no-one would pay too much notice.
It is hoped that books such as this one can help provide the reader with an enhanced understanding of what happened to the world in March 2020.
