San Francisco, CA. Snowflake Petunia was trapped in [their] home after it became engulfed in flames last Tuesday evening following a candle séance, according to the sole occupant of the dwelling. She had fallen asleep, leaving all 10,101 candles burning. The heat was so intense that they collectively melted into one giant burning pool of fire. [They] eventually awoke to the sound of a fireman shouting at [them[ to evacuate. “I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.” said Snowflake “It was the undeniable sound of a cisgender white male screaming at me to accompany him out of the building, and he didn’t even get my pronouns right. It seemed like it took forever to deal with that problem after which I politely informed him that I would not be evacuated by a heteronormative firefighter. I told him that I’d be happy to wait for any of his queer colleague(s) to show up so that we could proceed, at which point he became quite irate, effectively ordering me to “shift my ass” out of there. “There are no queer f*cking firefighters coming to save you!” he shouted. Again I refused, at which point he just dragged me out of the building. I suffered several bruises on my arms, as well as burns.” said Snowflake Petunia who is now suing the San Fransisco Fire Department for assault and repair to [their] $473,000 worth of cosmetic surgery that was now completely ruined. “I can’t believe we’re still living in a world where this kind of thing happens. It should be possible for queer folk to have access to a firefighter that we feel comfortable with.”

We contacted the San Francisco Fire Department for a response to the lack of queer representation in the department. “We had a diversity hire [guy] here one time” a spokesman said “who lasted all of one afternoon. When confronted with a burning building, he wept and ran away. We had earlier found out that he didn’t have the strength to lift a fire hose, so once he was gone it was a big relief. Any other questions?”

”It’s really depressing to see how little progress has been made towards the queering of society, despite the massive funding George Soros has been putting into it.” says Snowflake, “It’s not that I don’t appreciate the fact that a Fire Department is primarily there to save lives, it’s just that there are more fundamental things to worry about, like feelings.”
